We currently live in a world that never stops.
Our culture teaches us to constantly strive for more. This gives us less time to slow down and truly connect with ourselves. The concept of simplicity and slowing down really holds space for us to process our emotions, to heal and to deeply explore the richness of our inner world.
What is a simple life?
A simple life can be described as focusing on what is truly important to us and reducing any distractions, possessions, and commitments. It often prioritises deepening existing relationships and experiences and finding a sense of fulfilment in the present moment.
Simplicity is about finding healing in the little moments of life. These are the small but significant moments of connection with have with others and to us. Both a simple life and focusing on slowing down can ground us and help us to find more sense of balance in life.
What is meant by slowing down
Slowing down in life often means taking the time to observe and appreciate moments without rushing. When we allow ourselves to slow down in life, we can make more room for emotional rest which is what is needed for true recharge. Emotional rest may include going for a mindful stroll in the park, sipping a drink at a cafe and watching the world go by, or engaging in creative projects such as writing or painting.
Simplicity and slowing down in life may feel uncomfortable at first as repressed emotions may rise to the surface. But if we sit with our emotions, notice them and then let them pass, it can be a powerful tool for release and healing.
